About The Position

CoStar’s Software Engineer I will contribute to highly visible CoStar Suite web applications used by millions of users. The role involves learning emerging technologies and architectural advances and applying them to improve CoStar’s software products. The position is based in Arlington, Virginia, and is onsite Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Friday.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person university or college.
• A track record of commitment to prior employers.
• At least 2 years of production development experience with modern technologies such as React, Vue, TypeScript, NodeJS, C#, .Net, OpenSearch, Kafka, SQL, or NoSQL.
• Demonstrable track record of building and launching successful products and platforms.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or cloud managed services.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum processes and continuous delivery practices.
• Experience in unit, performance, and automation testing.
• Experience leveraging AI to improve productivity.
• Deep understanding of the business that the software supports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience managing a large enterprise-level code base, code quality, and dependencies.
• Experience with React and/or NodeJS in particular.
• Experience implementing AI-powered product features.
• Commercial real estate knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance web applications used by thousands of users globally.
• Drive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellence.
• Influence improvements to CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with other Software Engineers across the organization.
• Mentor junior developers, review code and architecture, and promote software development best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that can strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices.
• Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and CoStar’s business model and technology.
