About The Position

We are seeking a Software Engineer I - Lab in our Broomfield, CO location to develop lab supervisory control and real-time program execution software. You will design, test, integrate, and support software used in engineering laboratory environments while collaborating with software leads and cross-functional engineering teams. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • 2+ years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related technical field
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating hardware and software in engineering laboratory environments
  • Experience developing software that visualizes and interfaces with laboratory equipment, sensors, or controllers
  • Experience with quantum circuits, quantum algorithms, or trapped ion quantum computers
  • Familiarity with Docker, Jenkins, and CI/CD workflows
  • Experience with real-time or embedded software
  • Experience with relational or key/value databases
  • Interest in compilers and technologies such as LLVM
  • Interest in quantum circuits, circuit optimization, or quantum algorithms
  • Enthusiasm for supporting deployed software and responding to user feedback
  • Strong problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain lab control, data acquisition, and/or real-time embedded software
  • Integrate software with laboratory hardware, sensors, controllers, and related systems
  • Develop unit tests and support integration through CI/CD toolchains
  • Collaborating with software leads to defining requirements and executing core projects
  • Debug, profile, document, and support deployed software
  • Contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement of development practices
