Join our Enterprise Integration team and help build the backbone of Loblaw’s connected technology ecosystem. As a Junior Software Engineer, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to design and maintain integration workflows that connect critical business systems at scale. Requirements

  • Foundational Java, Go and Python development skills with a willingness and ability to pick up additional programming languages as needed.
  • Basic understanding of containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration patterns (e.g., Kubernetes), microservices architecture, and distributed systems concepts.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API development principles and experience integrating or building APIs.
  • Knowledge of version control using Git, including branching, merging, and pull request workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset — comfortable working within cross-functional agile teams to deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integration solutions primarily using Java, while adapting to other programming languages and frameworks as project needs evolve.
  • Work with containerization and orchestration tools, supporting microservices and distributed system patterns in a modern cloud environment.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs, contributing to integration workflows that connect cross-functional platforms and business services.
  • Manage code using Git and follow best practices for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development.
  • Read and interpret system designs to contribute meaningfully to integration workflows, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.
