Software Engineer, Growth

Base Power Company•Austin, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Base is a next-generation power company that deploys distributed batteries to help transform the electricity grid. The Software Engineer, Growth will own products and systems that support customer acquisition, activation, and retention as Base expands in Texas and nationwide. The role combines experimentation and scaling of existing products with building new growth products and infrastructure from scratch. This is a lean, fast-moving team role with substantial ownership. The engineer will identify opportunities, work from first principles, and ship solutions rather than simply execute a predefined roadmap. The work calls for sound judgment about where to create leverage and which customer friction to address, optimizing conversion without compromising clarity, trust, or the long-term quality of the brand. Base is a startup, so priorities and responsibilities may evolve with business needs. The team works in person and describes its pace as intense and not limited to a 9-to-5 schedule.

Requirements

  • Experience building in 0-to-1 or fast-moving environments where user needs, product shape, and success metrics are evolving.
  • Experience using product analytics, experimentation, and data to guide decisions.
  • Readiness to work with intensity and urgency and maintain a high bar for personal output.

Responsibilities

  • Turn ideas into shipped tests across the member journey, including redesigned sign-up flows, paid advertising campaigns, and referral experiences.
  • Write code, analyze results, and determine what to test next.
  • Own products and systems that drive acquisition, activation, and retention.
  • Build growth infrastructure that enables fast, trustworthy experimentation, including the supporting data pipeline.
  • Use judgment to identify leverage and worthwhile problems, optimizing conversion without sacrificing clarity or trust.
  • Identify opportunities and work from first principles rather than executing a handed-down roadmap.
