Software Engineer, Ground Software
About The Position
Katalyst builds robotic spacecraft for dynamic space operations, enabling activities like maneuvering, upgrading, and refueling to become routine. The company focuses on developing foundational capabilities for sustained, responsive space operations, aiming to usher in a new era of space activity that enhances national security and ensures freedom of action. The role involves reviewing and understanding the current Ground software stack, mission workflows, identifying gaps and technical debt, and training on console for upcoming mission operations. The engineer will also be responsible for becoming a code owner in a chosen area, creating automated tooling to improve ground procedures, enforcing code quality and standards, mentoring junior engineers, advocating for testing and integration, and providing technical expertise for user stories and epics.
Requirements
- 3-8 years of cloud based scalable micro service architecture
- Experience owning services in production
- Experience supporting mission critical services
- Experience in creating high reliability production-critical systems
- Familiarity working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper feature creation
- Deep technical fluency in cloud, backend, frontend, and streaming systems
- AWS Suite (EKS, MSK, Timestream, S3, Batch, Event Bridge), Python, C++, React, Tailwind, Redis, Kafka, influx, QuestDB, MongoDB, git, CI/CD, Docker, K8
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or other related STEM fields
