About The Position
The GeminiApp organization is building a universal assistant designed to empower users by understanding their goals and context, working in the background, and minimizing distractions across multiple devices. The Gemini Everywhere team specifically focuses on making the Gemini experience ambient across all surfaces by deeply embedding it into the Android OS and Chrome platform. This allows users to invoke their Gemini assistant without being distracted from their current task, aiming to turn Gemini into a shapeshifting intelligence that flows effortlessly alongside the user. The role involves working on a team that solves user problems with cutting-edge AI solutions, navigating ambiguity to define and build consumer-facing products and features across Android, iOS, Web, or backend services. It requires a passion for building crafted frontend experiences and well-designed, scalable backend services, with extensive cross-functional collaboration across Google Product Areas, particularly with Android and Chrome partnerships. Google DeepMind is a pioneering AI lab focused on advancing AI development to solve complex global challenges and accelerate high-quality product innovation, prioritizing safety and ethics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with software development in one or more of the following: Web (JavaScript/TypeScript, React), iOS (Swift, Objective-C), Android (Kotlin, Java), backend or ML services.
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing software products.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy high-quality consumer product features across web, mobile (Android/iOS), or backend services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and research teams to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete technical solutions.
- Develop simple, reusable, and scalable code libraries and frameworks to accelerate product development.
- Iterate on product prototypes and features, balancing development velocity with a high standard of code quality and craft.
