About The Position

Norm Ai pioneered Legal Engineering, the process that empowers lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents with Norm’s proprietary suite of no-code software tools. Norm Ai technology is deployed inside many of the largest and most consequential institutions in the world. Norm Ai is also the technology behind Norm Law, LLP, a separate but affiliated AI-native law firm built for the era of agentic AI. Norm Law’s attorneys advise leading institutions across private funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, registered funds, and financial regulation, using the same legal intelligence platform that powers Norm Ai’s products. AI Fluency: Norm Ai expects all team members to be fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. They use it to improve the quality and speed of their work and to continuously refine how work gets done end-to-end. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their AI usage throughout the interview process, including concrete examples of tools, workflows, and outcomes. We look for practical, hands-on experience, not theoretical familiarity. This Role We are hiring Software Engineers at Senior to Staff levels. As a Software Engineer, Full Stack at Norm Ai, you'll work across all aspects of our code stack, building intuitive tools transforming legal workflows. You'll partner closely with design, client engagement, other engineering teams, and end users to bring new product ideas to life. How You’ll Work Software Engineers at Norm typically align to one of two areas. Product engineers own the associate, partner, and operations-facing surfaces of our enterprise application: the workflows, UI, and AI-powered features that make the product indispensable to the Norm Law teams. Backend engineers focus on the shared components and systems leveraged by our product engineering teams, building highly scalable, reusable, and fault-tolerant services, including document processing, AI orchestration, and integration pipelines, in close collaboration with our AIRE and Platform teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science or an equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience
4+ years of experience writing application-layer Python for production use
2+ years of experience writing React + TypeScript, or similar, for production use
Experience working with a Postgres database or similar
Experience writing APIs using a framework such as FastAPI or similar for production use
Interest or experience working with a complex AI-driven product (e.g. streamed outputs, dynamic agentic site navigation)
Interest or experience working with PDFs, Excel, or file-driven products
AI Fluency: actively use AI in day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving, improving quality and speed, and continuously refining how work gets done end-to-end.

Experience dealing with database scaling problems
Experience building highly configured or abstracted UIs tied to editable schemas stored in a database
Experience working with AWS infrastructure or similar
