About The Position

Scan.com is a digital health scale-up focused on making diagnostics accessible, fast, and transparent. The company's technology accelerates diagnoses for timely treatments, improving healthcare outcomes. Scan.com offers solutions for both patients and providers, including a B2C marketplace for booking scans and B2B platforms for live scheduling and AI-powered workflow assistance. The company has achieved significant milestones, including multiple platform launches, over $100M in VC funding, profitability, and over 100% YoY growth. The Fulfillment product is the core engine of Scan.com, managing the entire patient lifecycle from referral to report delivery through an internal portal. This involves scheduling, preauthorization assessment, medical form handling, notifications, image and report routing, and invoicing/claims, connecting with numerous imaging centers and health systems that use disparate systems. As a Software Engineer, Fulfillment, you will be responsible for architecting and building robust, automated, and efficient systems for these workflows. This role requires a passion for scaling operational workflows, collaboration with internal operations teams, and a deep understanding of high-throughput workflows. The team is dedicated to ensuring patients receive imaging care with minimal friction. As a scale-up, the role is expected to evolve over time.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to integrate with legacy systems not designed for modern interoperability (e.g., aging RIS platforms, core banking systems, or equivalent legacy infrastructure).
  • Experience with shipping complex internal operations dashboards and creating delightful user experiences.
  • Proficiency in backend development within modern web stacks, particularly Ruby (e.g., Rails), with an emphasis on building reliable, scalable services and maintaining architectural rigor.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API integration patterns, including schema versioning, backward compatibility, and API contract management.
  • Strong operational instincts: instrumenting builds, considering failure modes, and treating on-call escalations as signals of systemic gaps.
  • Deep domain ownership: understanding the patient journey, statuses, triggers, roles, and tasks within 60 days.
  • Resilience uplift: identifying and remediating critical workflows with a measurable reduction in workflow-related operational escalations.
