Software Engineer for Test
About The Position
IEX is seeking a technical Software Engineer for Test to join its lean QA team as an individual contributor. The role supports all phases of the software development lifecycle and tests trading applications, collaborating across the technology organization. The position calls for attention to detail, excellent communication, Java and Linux experience, and strong business knowledge. Experience with options or equities trading is highly recommended. The role involves reviewing requirements, developing test strategies and plans with Product and Project Managers, writing and executing test scenarios, automating tests, reporting bugs, and working with developers to reproduce issues and retest fixes. The engineer also participates in code reviews, performs end-to-end integration and implementation testing, collaborates with cross-functional teams on quality throughout the SDLC, and troubleshoots production issues and supports deployments.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience as an SDET or in a similar technical role.
- Experience with trading systems and the FIX protocol.
- 6+ years of Linux/Unix experience.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of C++, Java, or Python.
- Working knowledge of test management software.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on technical credibility and the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs.
- A team-first mindset, with accountability and ownership of work.
- Self-awareness, tact, responsiveness, and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Adaptability and a commitment to transparency and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Review and analyze requirement specifications.
- Partner with Product and Project Managers to develop effective test strategies and test plans.
- Write, execute, and automate test scenarios, and report bugs.
- Work closely with developers to reproduce reported bugs and retest fixes.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Conduct end-to-end integration and implementation testing of trading applications.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support deployments.
