About The Position

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators. At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there. A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone. As a Software Engineer on the Engine Systems team, you will help build the core diagnostic instrumentation for Roblox’s engine. In this role, support and build the systems that allow us to monitor and analyze Roblox from the hardware level all the way up to end user experience to improve Roblox for our millions of concurrent users. You will contribute to platform-level systems that help Roblox understand hangs, crashes, performance regressions, and session health across our supported clients. This work requires navigating hardware and vendor-specific limitations across devices, while building reliable systems that help engineering teams safely ship weekly binary updates to Roblox at global scale.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong ownership of complex technical systems.
  • Knowledge: You are comfortable working with systems level programming languages (C++, C#, Objective C, Rust, or similar programming language).
  • Curiosity: You are eager to work across a wide range of systems and understand the engine end to end
  • Long-term Mindset: You are considerate of how your work impacts the team/users over time, not just getting the green checkmark on a deliverable

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain components of the (predominantly C++) systems that report stability, reliability, and performance signals across Roblox clients, working from defined designs and contributing to technical decisions within your area.
  • Write well-instrumented, production-quality code across supported platforms, including mobile, desktop, and major consoles, with guidance on complex systems-level work.
  • Deliver the tools and signals engineers use to detect, understand, and resolve disruptions to the user experience, and help improve them based on feedback from those teams.
