About The Position

Grand Central has an opening for a Software Engineer/Developer function in the Chantilly, VA area. This position includes the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. Applies appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle. Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms. The successful candidate will be required to function as an integral member of a highly proficient and technically competent team of Software Engineers/Developers and will have expertise in the rapid development of classified tools, algorithms, and prototype capabilities to support quick-response solutions against emerging intelligence issues.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph (required)
  • Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and 8+years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Can consider experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in full‑lifecycle software development including design, development, testing, debugging, and rapid prototyping
  • Proficiency with modern software development languages (e.g., Python, Bash, C++, Java) and scripting for automation
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Ansible, or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with a constructive, solutions‑focused approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven success collaborating effectively with cross‑functional leaders

Nice To Haves

  • Mission-specific technical knowledge and operations experience (incl. DEC VMS and/or Alpha)
  • Ability to develop technical solutions through deep analysis and understanding of impact to the end-product/solution
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment to achieve day-to-day objectives that significantly impact operational results and deliverables
  • Expert understanding and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of domain related mission operations and a broad understanding of dependent domains

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, test, and develop tool prototypes to advance multi-INT processing technologies, analysis support, and mission operations
  • Leverage proficiency in software development using industry standards, open source, and emerging toolsets to perform multi-INT rapid prototyping, experiment support, and tool development
  • Support Enterprise software development efforts to innovate in high-performance computing incorporating graphics processing units (GPU)
  • Employ knowledge and experience in multiple formats, imagery server development, web service interfaces, and tool-suites to perform R&D for proof-of-concept experiments
  • Transition prototyping technologies into operational use
  • Other related supporting duties as required

Benefits

  • Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
