About The Position

Watershed is seeking a Software Engineer for its Developer Tooling team. This role focuses on enhancing the developer experience at Watershed by improving local development environments, implementing AI development tools, and optimizing test infrastructure. The goal is to enable engineers to work efficiently and reliably, ensuring high product quality. The position is based in the San Francisco office, with an expectation of working from the office four days a week.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, or productivity systems that scale across an engineering organization.
• A passion for enabling other engineers to move quickly and safely.
• Product sense for 'internal products': ability to translate pain points into problems, ship iteratively, and measure impact.
• Comfort working across the stack (CLI/tools, services, CI config, developer workflows) and debugging complex systems.
• Familiarity with Javascript/Typescript, GCP (or similar cloud providers), GitHub Actions, Playwright, Temporal, Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve tools for a delightful local development experience at Watershed.
• Establish tools, patterns, and guardrails for responsible adoption of AI tooling.
• Build and iterate on developer-facing AI automation and tools integrated with codebase and workflows.
• Own and evolve the end-to-end testing experience, including frameworks, infrastructure, reliability, performance, and ease of diagnosing failures.
• Ship improvements that positively impact the day-to-day experience of all Watershed engineers.
