Software Engineer, Developer Experience & SDKs
About The Position
The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is expanding its team to support the growing Stellar blockchain ecosystem. This role is part of a small, fast-moving engineering team incubating a novel distributed systems prototype. It's a zero-to-one build opportunity where you will be responsible for creating much of the necessary infrastructure and tooling. This is not a maintenance role or an academic research project, but an active build of a high-performance platform designed to handle real value. You will work directly with the protocol architect and core systems engineers on this greenfield project, taking it to production. The role offers the agility of an early-stage startup with the stability of SDF.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript.
- Ability and willingness to work with Rust.
- Experience shipping developer tools, SDKs, or public-facing libraries.
- High degree of empathy for developers.
- Ability to write clear, accurate, and engaging technical documentation.
- Comfortable being the public face of a highly technical product for early adopters.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with blockchain developer tooling (SDKs, block explorers, faucets, wallets).
- Familiarity with smart contract development patterns.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the TypeScript SDK for application developers, complementing the existing Rust SDK by wrapping the JSON-RPC API.
- Develop the 'developer daily driver' tools, including CLI tooling for contract deployment, a reliable web faucet, and a web block explorer UI.
- Write and maintain the 'Getting Started' guide, API documentation, and realistic example applications to ensure new developers can deploy within 30 minutes.
- Serve as the first point of contact for partner developers during the private testnet, translating their feedback directly into SDK and tooling improvements.
- Contribute to the existing Rust SDK.
