We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our Critical Communication Systems development team in Lincoln, Nebraska. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain modern desktop applications used by public safety dispatch centers and mission-critical communication environments. You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, UX designers, and customers to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that support emergency communications and critical decision-making. As a Software Engineer at Keenfinity, you will collaborate with a dedicated team in researching, designing, developing, and testing software applications and solutions for our IP Dispatch Console and RTS Intercom products. Requirements

  • Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
  • Experience developing Electron-based desktop applications.
  • Knowledge of Electron architecture including IPC, renderer, and main processes.
  • Experience with REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and Git.
  • Understanding software architecture, design patterns, and Agile development.
  • Motivated by solving meaningful real-world problems.
  • Inspired by technology that supports first responders and public safety professionals.
  • Self-driven, curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
  • Experience with WebSockets, real-time systems, or event-driven architecture.
  • Knowledge of public safety, dispatch, telecommunications, VoIP, radio, GIS, or situational awareness systems.
  • Experience with Azure, C#, .NET, or C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Electron-based desktop applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Build intuitive, responsive, and scalable user interfaces.
  • Implement real-time communications and data visualization capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain REST API and WebSocket integrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions.
  • Create automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and customer-reported problems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of software quality, development processes, and engineering practices.
  • Support deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of existing product lines.
