About The Position

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join the Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Core Services team. This role involves building and enhancing large-scale systems using distributed data stores with a strong focus on scalability and performance. You will work on creative features that will enhance the experience of using services like App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple Arcade for millions of customers worldwide. The team fosters creativity and generates novel solutions based on engineering excellence, making a difference in an innovative and impactful environment. You will be part of a server team powering customer-facing features within Apple client applications and will collaborate multi-functionally with various teams across Apple. A key aspect of this role is a constant focus on web service performance, with an expectation to think about performance in terms of median, 95th percentile, and 99th percentile. You will also have the opportunity to help develop and enhance the MusicKit - Apple Music APIs for our developer community and partners.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or similar field.
• At least 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of JVM or functional languages like Clojure.
• Strong object-oriented design and analysis skills.
• Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs or other API technologies.

Nice To Haves

• M.S. preferred.
• Experience with NoSQL or document-oriented data stores (e.g. Apache Solr / Redis / Memcached / Cassandra / Voldemort / MongoDB etc.).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Agility to build customer-facing features that span multi-functional teams.
• Experience writing effective unit and integration tests.
• Outstanding debugging, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
