About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Commerce Content Safety team ensures a safe and trustworthy Google Commerce experience. We're on the front lines, protecting users and merchants by maintaining content integrity, moderating shopping queries, and overseeing shopping GenAI safety.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (Python, C++, etc.).
Experience in artificial intelligence or machine learning.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
1 year of experience in machine learning, generative AI and AI algorithms.

Responsibilities

Design, build, deploy, and iterate on machine learning models (including LLMs) to detect policy violations in Shopping content for various moderation tasks, including text, image, and potentially video analysis.
Develop and deploy scalable pipelines for high-quality training data curation, striving for gold-standard datasets and implementing frameworks for model evaluation and performance tracking.
Collaborate closely with product managers, data analysts, operations teams, and other engineering teams to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver impactful results.
Collaborate with other engineering teams (Search, Gemini, Shopping Infra, Compliance, Merchant Tools, Ads safety) to integrate and support content safety measures.
Analyze data to identify patterns of abuse, measure the effectiveness of our systems, and guide future improvements.
