About The Position

Saab's Surveillance U.S. Division is in search of motivated, enthusiastic Engineering students who are interested in applying their studies to real-world product development through a paid Co-Op/ Internship opportunity. Saab is currently looking for a Software Engineering Co-Op. Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, Software Engineering Co-Ops will actively participate in the software development for Radar systems. They will work with senior software engineers to design and develop modular, configurable software that can be used on multiple programs. Participants will also engage in internal technical meetings and design reviews, and collaborate with the software lead for task planning and scheduling of their own activities.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited degree program focused in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • Completed Sophomore year or greater at time of hire.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Knowledge of Java or C++ software development, and object-oriented experience.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Co-Op experience is preferred, but not required.
  • UML modeling tools for illustrating the software design.
  • Software development in a Linux environment.
  • Utilizing a unit test framework.
  • Subversion (SVN) for configuration management.
