This role contributes software solutions under guidance across phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The engineer works collaboratively with senior engineers to implement features, write tests, and contribute to operational excellence while developing technical skills and judgment. The Cloud/DevOps Engineer role is dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation of all user-facing services, as well as production and development systems. This role manages Venmo’s infrastructure comprehensively, encompassing operations, automation, security, compliance, and release engineering. While focused on Cloud Engineering, the work integrates elements of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps projects. On the DevOps front, this role oversees CI/CD infrastructure, develops smart and secure pipelines, implements self-service secret management systems, creates development environments, and establishes microservices scaffolding and testing frameworks. The quality of the systems built is paramount, and this role prioritizes it highly. The infrastructure must be delivered automatically, thoroughly tested, and scanned for vulnerabilities through synthetic tests. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to critical infrastructure and cloud engineering initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers. You will help build and maintain the tools, automation, and services that power Venmo’s AWS cloud infrastructure.
