About The Position

This job delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). It involves advising management on project-level issues, guiding junior engineers, operating with little supervision, and applying knowledge of technical best practices. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our AI-powered tooling initiative, designing and building intelligent systems that enhance the productivity, reliability, and velocity of Venmo's Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field of study
  • 1+ years’ experience in software development or a related field
  • Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) or container technologies
  • Programming and scripting experience (Python, Bash, Go, or similar)
  • Exposure to containers and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn

  • As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to our critical infrastructure and cloud engineering initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • You will help build and maintain the tools, automation, and services that power Venmo’s AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Our technical stack: AWS, EKS, Docker, GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, GitHub Actions, DataDog, Bash, Python, Go.

Responsibilities

  • Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff
  • Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures
  • Understands internal standards & processes an applies them to make technical decisions
  • Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
  • May contribute to code & design reviews
  • Contribute to infrastructure features and automation under guidance of senior engineers
  • Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and escalate as appropriate
  • Write automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code to improve operational efficiency
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, self-service tooling, and microservices scaffolding
  • Learn and apply best practices in cloud engineering, DevOps, and SRE
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions
