Software Engineer - Cloud and Geospatial Data
About The Position
CACI is seeking a Software Engineer - Cloud and Geospatial Data to join their Fusion Analysis & Development Effort (FADE) team in Denver, CO. This role involves working on a complex and evolving system with a growing user base, addressing technical challenges in scalable cloud services and large-scale geospatial dataset processing. The position offers the opportunity to shift between core software development and specialized data engineering at scale. Daily activities include designing and implementing new features, resolving operational issues, and contributing to the direction of mission-supporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Current and active TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, etc.
- 7 or more years of experience working as a software engineer or in a related field
- 3-5 years or more of strong Java development skills
- Demonstrated experience with geospatial data processing and spatial databases like Postgres
- 3 or more years of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm or similar
- Skill with automated deployment pipelines using DevOps tools like GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Nexus or similar platforms
- The attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn current and emerging technologies
- Willing to work a hybrid schedule
Nice To Haves
- Experience with big data frameworks like Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and Apache Iceberg
- Linux/Red Hat knowledge
- Python programming experience
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team to design, build, and maintain scalable backend software solutions
- Develop and optimize big data pipelines to process massive geospatial datasets
- Design and deploy AWS cloud-native backend services and capabilities
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies quickly as program requirements evolve
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, system bottlenecks, and production bugs to maintain optimal system health
- Participate in planning, design, and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards and code quality
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and resiliency across all backend services
