A Software Engineer at Realtor.com® is an autonomous contributor in the team. You solve problems with the help of your teammates, applying technologies with engineering best practices. You work with your team to design and build software that solves consumer and customer problems. You write stable code that a software engineer unfamiliar with the system can understand. You learn to make appropriate trade-offs and re-use where possible. You engage with customers, stakeholders, and peers to deliver exciting features for our customers. You help the team by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, and team planning. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in software development
  • Experience in developing scalable systems
  • Experience in software development and a strong willingness to learn the realtor.com technology stack, including Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, NumPy, Pandas), React, Node.js, and GraphQL
  • Experience working with relational or non-relational databases.
  • Experience delivering high value to customers quickly, and frequently, with regular feedback and Support
  • Experience evaluating trade-offs between design approaches
  • Software engineering best practices (e.g., testing, code reviews, documentation).

Nice To Haves

  • AI, Machine Learning, and AWS knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in system architecture and design reviews
  • Develop solutions that are of high quality, scalable, and reliable
  • Work collaboratively in squads composed of Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Engineers.
  • Investigate and prototype technologies that can be leveraged to introduce innovations
  • Be self-directed, take initiative, and drive towards solutions with guidance
  • Utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios.
  • Critically judge AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy.
  • Integrate AI tooling into your daily workflow to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing you to focus on high-impact architectural and strategic engineering challenges.
