About The Position

DLR Group's Design Technology team advances the digital practice of design across our integrated architecture, engineering, and interiors teams. The team supports and develops the technologies, standards, workflows, and tools that enable our designers to work more effectively and solve increasingly complex challenges. Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in digital practice, research and development, and client-facing digital services, with capabilities spanning BIM, computational design, reality capture, GIS, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital review, connected BIM, and design visualization. As a Software Engineer – Azure DevOps at DLR Group, you will design, deploy, and maintain the cloud platform supporting custom, line-of-business applications used by more than 1,500 architects, interior designers, and engineers. As part of the Design Technology team’s cross-functional Agile environment, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle with a focus on Azure administration, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and application health and availability. You will partner closely with software development and IT teams to build secure, reliable, and scalable solutions that support the way our teams design and work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an additional 5+ years of equivalent professional experience
Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure resources and working with subscriptions and cloud cost management tools
Experience with Entra ID application registrations, SSO, managed identities, and service principals
Experience developing and maintaining infrastructure as code using Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or comparable tools
Experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics
Proficiency with SQL and experience working with Azure data services
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively respond to production incidents and application outages
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical processes and collaborate across teams
Understanding of cloud security best practices, including least-privilege access and secure authentication

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification
Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification
GitHub Foundations (GH-900) and/or GitHub Actions (GH-200) certification
Experience developing reusable GitHub Actions workflows, composite actions, and managing self-hosted runners
Experience implementing OIDC-based federated authentication between GitHub Actions and Azure
Experience with cloud cost optimization, governance, and resource management
Experience supporting backup, restore, disaster recovery, and application resiliency strategies
Interest or experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies
Familiarity with BIM, architecture, engineering, construction, or other design-related industries

Responsibilities

Provision, configure, and manage Azure resources supporting custom, line-of-business applications
Design and maintain Azure resource structures, naming standards, tagging strategies, and cost management practices
Configure secure application authentication and access using Entra ID, single sign-on (SSO), managed identities, and service principals
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Bicep and ARM templates to enable consistent, repeatable cloud deployments
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, including automated builds, testing, security scanning, and multi-environment deployments
Develop reusable GitHub workflows and composite actions and implement secure authentication practices, including OIDC-based federated authentication
Maintain application observability using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics, including monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response
Support application resiliency by maintaining and testing backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
Partner with IT on infrastructure dependencies, including DNS, certificates, firewall rules, security policies, and other application requirements
Document cloud architecture, configurations, processes, and ownership while collaborating across technical teams to continuously improve platform reliability, security, and efficiency
