About The Position

Sierra is building a platform to enable companies worldwide to create better, more human customer experiences with AI. The company is primarily based in San Francisco with growing offices globally. The Public Sector team is focused on bringing Sierra's industry-leading technology to US public sector partners, having recently achieved FedRAMP High certification. This team aims to redefine the relationship between government and its citizens by using AI agents to help citizens access services, report fraud, and understand government systems, while also empowering government officials to better address constituent concerns. The team is explicitly nonpartisan and committed to helping public servants leverage AI for their missions.

Requirements

  • Full stack software development skills and familiarity with AI development processes.
  • A passion for public sector work and a faith in the potential of institutions to transform outcomes for constituents.
  • Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems, including coordinating with public servants to understand their workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building conversational or long-horizon agents using proprietary or open-source frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record navigating ambiguity, such as being part of a founding team, a new initiative at a large enterprise, or forward-deployed engineering.
  • Prior understanding of government work and its complexities, including procurement, regulation, and patterns of partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build production-grade AI agents for government institutions at the Federal and state level.
  • Partner closely with industry leadership to build the public sector team, including capture motion, market strategy, and product components for rapid scaling.
  • Work closely with institutions to understand their most urgent needs and identify novel opportunities to expand impact, such as through outbound contacts or long-horizon agents.
  • Shape the evolution of Sierra's core platform by surfacing unmet needs, prototyping new tools and features, and collaborating with research, product, and platform teams based on direct customer interactions.
