About The Position

Sierra is building a platform to help businesses create better, more human customer experiences using AI. The Financial Services team focuses on partnering with systemically important banks, neobanks, insurers, and other financial organizations to develop AI strategies and build modern tools. These tools address critical moments in customer interactions, such as mortgage pre-approvals, fraud resolution, and card replacement, aiming to make the financial industry more accessible, human, and affordable.

Requirements

  • Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
  • A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency - you find creative ways to overcome obstacles and ship.
  • Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
  • Excellent communication skills—clear, direct, and persuasive across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Genuine interest in Financial Services and improving the end customer experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial technology, implementations at financial institutions, working inside of these institutions or familiarity with financial services security and compliance requirements (fair lending, PII handling, etc.) are a strong plus.
  • Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
  • Have been a founder or founding engineer - you know what it means to balance craft, ownership, and speed
  • Familiarity with tools that power today's AI agents: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
  • Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go
  • Previous roles where you interfaced with customers or led technical projects with external stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are highly performant, reliable, and intuitive, driving revenue directly to Sierra's growth.
  • Drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), taking complete ownership from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration.
  • Build, tune, and evolve AI agents in production environments, defining ADLC best practices.
  • Partner directly with leaders at large enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand business challenges and build transformative AI agents.
  • Embed AI agents across business stacks to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Guide the evolution of Sierra's core platform based on direct customer work, surfacing unmet needs, prototyping new tools and features, and collaborating with research, product, and platform teams.
