(USA) Senior, Software Engineer - Agent Builder

WalmartBentonville, AR
Onsite

About The Position

Walmart is transforming how we solve business problems and introducing our first “biz/tech” role. We are enabling a future where a single individual can own, design, and deploy powerful AI-driven agents—without requiring a full team or deep technical background. We are looking for Agent Builders —problem solvers who are passionate about speed, simplification, and impact. As an Agent Builder, you will leverage our self-service agent-building tools—featuring low-code/no-code and natural language interfaces—to design and deploy agents that automate complex workflows across Walmart. You will solve large-scale problems end-to-end, iterate rapidly, and significantly improve operational efficiency. This role is ideal for self-starters who think holistically, simplify fearlessly, and execute with urgency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business, operations, product, strategy, or a generalist role, with a proven track record of delivering results
  • Familiarity with core technical concepts (e.g., APIs, microservices, LLMs, triggers, webhooks)
  • Strong analytical skills with a systems-thinking mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think independently and simplify complex problems using first principles
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI/LLM applications, prompt engineering, or automation tools
  • Understanding of retail, eCommerce, supply chain, merchandising, or logistics operations
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Use a low-code/no-code platform to build and deploy software agents that solve complex business problems
  • Translate business challenges into agent-driven automation by orchestrating APIs, triggers, LLM functions, and data workflows
  • Rapidly iterate on agent designs using natural language interfaces and workflow visualizers
  • Own solutions from start to finish—no handoffs, no dependencies—focused on delivering results
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand upstream and downstream impacts of automation
  • Continuously improve agent performance by monitoring execution and applying first-principles thinking to optimize or re-architect solutions
