About The Position

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineering organization at Netflix manages a massive cloud footprint, constantly innovating to increase fleet-wide agility, efficiency, and reliability. This organization builds, operates, and maintains Compute, Network, and Storage services, enabling developers to rely on foundational building blocks for entertaining hundreds of millions of customers globally. The Compute organization specifically owns the internet-scale cloud footprint, focusing on agility, efficiency, and reliability. The Compute Control Plane and Capacity team within this organization is responsible for ensuring there is always sufficient capacity (EC2 instances or containers) to meet Netflix's needs, including supporting major live streams. They are looking for a skilled engineer to drive core components of this infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with running containerized platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures and distributed systems, with deep experience operating critical Tier 0 services at scale.
  • Platform experience building for engineers.
  • Able to break down complexity, iterate, and communicate progress to a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.
  • AI fluency in leveraging AI to assist with coding, design, and operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with running compute on multiple platforms, both cloud-based and on-premises.
  • Proven track record of timely execution with upholding engineering excellence while building trust with partners/customers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: curious and enjoy working on ambiguous problems where solutions still need to be defined. Excel at cross-functional ownership and driving alignment to reach a decision, even when it is outside of your wheelhouse.

Responsibilities

  • Launch millions of containers on a Kubernetes-based container platform, evolving its performance, efficiency, and reach.
  • Build the platform that Kubernetes operators at Netflix run on.
  • Drive the evolution of systems and tooling used to manage hundreds of millions of dollars in Compute capacity annually at Netflix.
  • Influence engineering excellence and set a high bar for operational rigor within the team.
  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships to achieve alignment with many engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet their needs while maintaining focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Drive large initiatives to completion in tandem with partner and peer organizations.
