About The Position

At Netflix, the Creative Compute and Storage Software Services team designs, develops, and delivers an in-house infrastructure platform to support the growing need of creative productions globally. This role is for a Senior Software Engineer to be part of the design and development of this purposefully developed infrastructure platform. The engineer will work with internal engineering teams, technical creatives, production teams, and external vendors to deliver technology experiences for creative users. The position focuses on the design and implementation of solutions to improve the ability to manage a worldwide platform in support of cutting-edge creative workflows, enhancing the global control plane, and efficiently orchestrating infrastructure resources to maximize their impact. In this role, the engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and creative teams to develop world-class studio solutions that power the next generation of content creation.

Requirements

  • Have 5+ years of expertise in Go, Java, or similar object-oriented languages, with confidence and experience in debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a demonstrated history in designing, constructing, and managing large distributed systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and performance that are spread across multiple global regions and networks.
  • Have solid experience in setting technical directions for engineering projects, making architectural decisions, and influencing partner and cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Linux systems programming.
  • Experience with IaaS providers such as AWS, GCP, and VMware.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with gRPC API design and implementation.
  • Working experience with Kubernetes and PaaS offerings such as Heroku and CloudFoundry.
  • Working experience with KVM, QEMU, libvirt, OpenFlow, Open vSwitch.

  • Design orchestration of compute, disk, network, and other resources across globally distributed systems.
  • Integrate with core Netflix technologies and third-party solutions to deliver a cloud provider for studio needs.
  • Develop and advance core VM, container, network, and storage technologies to support complex creative workflows.
  • Build and operate robust, scalable, and highly available infrastructures, with a focus on developer experience, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Evangelize high quality code and engineering best practices.
  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals, and helping build technical communities across the organization.
