About The Position

eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in Austin, TX. This role involves designing, building, and managing critical, scalable security applications, features, and solutions that protect eBay's infrastructure without hindering developer efficiency. The goal is to make security invisible, providing a flawless experience for engineers while fortifying the cloud with zero-trust architecture and layered defense strategies. The position requires collaboration with architects and product managers, authoring design documents, driving architecture discussions, and participating in design and code reviews. The engineer will develop high-quality, test-driven code, design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, develop monitoring dashboards and alert systems, and create automated tests for efficient software deployment in a continuous integration and delivery environment. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage critical, scalable security applications, features and solutions that protect eBay's infrastructure without hindering developer efficiency.
  • Make security invisible, providing a flawless experience for engineers while fortifying the cloud with zero-trust architecture and layered defense strategies.
  • Collaborate with architects and product managers to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Author comprehensive software design documents to outline innovative solutions.
  • Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Develop high-quality code with a focus on test-driven development.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software deployment.
  • Develop monitoring dashboards and alert systems to ensure service performance.
  • Create automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment.
