About The Position

Captivation Software is seeking a mid-level software engineer with backend Java experience to build scalable REST APIs and services in Linux/Unix environments. The role supports the mission to protect the country and involves developing solutions that meet customer needs in a timely manner while continually innovating. This position is open for direct hires only; candidates from third-party staffing or recruiting firms will not be considered.

Requirements

Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Fourteen years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; four years of software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
Strong Java/JVM, REST API, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, relational database, Git, and Linux/Unix skills.
Experience working in Agile teams, including code reviews, debugging, problem solving, and technical collaboration.

Nice To Haves

Backend architecture, distributed systems, API design, CI/CD, automated testing, test-driven development, NoSQL, or frontend experience.
DevOps experience with AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, or scripting.
Experience supporting fast-paced, complex client solutions and interest in long-term growth standards.

Responsibilities

Build scalable REST APIs and backend services in Linux/Unix environments.
Contribute to software development in an Agile team, including code reviews, debugging, problem solving, and technical collaboration.
Support client solutions and contribute to ongoing engineering improvements.
