About The Position

Wyetech is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 (SWE1) to support the development, testing, operation, and enhancement of secure software systems. The Software Engineer will apply advanced software-security techniques in compliance with the technical reference architecture while developing and maintaining complex software solutions. The successful candidate will perform ongoing security testing, participate in code reviews, identify and mitigate software vulnerabilities, and collaborate with team members to promote secure coding practices. This position requires strong software-development experience and the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and best practices.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, testing, and operating software using advanced software-security techniques in compliance with applicable technical reference architectures.
  • Experience performing ongoing software security testing and participating in code reviews to improve application security and functionality.
  • Experience debugging existing software and correcting defects.
  • Experience designing and coding new software and modifying existing software.
  • Ability to provide and recommend engineering designs for new software solutions that help identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Experience contributing across multiple levels of software and system architecture.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical and system documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and exchange knowledge regarding secure coding practices.
  • Ability to quickly develop proficiency with new software-development tools and industry best practices.
  • Seven (7) years of Software Engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working with Open Source/NoSQL products, such as HBase, Accumulo, Bigtable, or similar technologies.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated experience, within the most recent eight (8) years, developing production software for Solaris or Linux environments.
  • Six (6) years of experience developing software using Java, C, or C++.
  • Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services.
  • Demonstrated experience with Java development.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Previous experience developing analytics applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, algorithm development, large-data-set manipulation, real-time systems, and business-management information systems.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a software-development team.
  • Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
  • Resolve software problem reports and troubleshoot application issues.
  • Apply software-development and software-design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provide input to system and software design, including hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS solutions, and requirements analysis.
  • Write and review software and system documentation.
  • Serve as a team lead when appropriate to the software-development process and project.
  • Design and implement complex database or data-repository interfaces and queries.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system-performance standards, working with users and Systems Engineers, evaluating system flows and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, and improve performance.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using appropriate scientific analysis and mathematical models to evaluate design outcomes and consequences.
