About The Position

Under general supervision and in collaboration with the Web Team Manager, this position is responsible for developing and modifying computer application programs, performing testing and debugging, and supporting analysis and design activities. The role involves maintaining and enhancing .NET applications for bwc.ohio.gov and internal business applications (e.g., ASP.NET, HTML) accessed via the Hub. Responsibilities include performing application testing and debugging, assisting with analysis and design by defining and documenting program requirements, ensuring compliance with software reusability, accessibility standards, and Agile development methodologies. The position also requires utilizing various development tools and participating in continuous learning and process improvement through training and applying Agile methods. Collaboration with senior developers, technical leads, and architects is expected, as is the creation and updating of program and application code documentation. Additionally, the role involves operational support duties such as compiling reports, communicating activity updates, and managing trouble tickets.

Requirements

  • 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance .NET applications for bwc.ohio.gov and internal business applications (e.g., ASP.NET, HTML) accessed via the Hub.
  • Perform application testing and debugging, including comparing program performance to specifications and verifying test results.
  • Assist with analysis and design activities by defining and documenting program requirements for BWC business and web applications.
  • Ensure compliance with software reusability, accessibility standards, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Utilize report generators, data manipulation tools, data query tools, debugging/tracing tools, and software development/version control tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, SQL, and Azure DevOps.
  • Participate in training, seminars, self‑directed learning, and research to acquire new technical skills.
  • Apply Agile development methods and techniques to support ongoing improvement.
  • Assist senior developers in creating application‑related training materials and user guides.
  • Create and update program and application code documentation (e.g., program flow, use cases, workflows, in‑line code comments) in accordance with BWC standards.
  • Collaborate with senior developers, technical leads, and architects on technical matters.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, including compiling and submitting weekly summary reports.
  • Communicate activity updates and status of problem‑resolution efforts.
  • Create, monitor, resolve, and update trouble tickets to reflect remediation progress.
