About The Position

We are looking for a passionate Software Development Manager to lead our e-commerce website and platform. This role involves supporting current features while driving innovation for new features and marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with experience in leading software teams, making crucial decisions on design, staffing, requirements, and timelines, and balancing risks and trade-offs. In this position, you'll collaborate with local and worldwide teams to shape the future of Ring and Blink e-commerce, lead front-end web engineering efforts, and support bringing new consumer products to market while interacting with teams across Ring, Blink, and Amazon. The company's mission is to keep people close to what's important, and this role plays a key part in creating the best products for customers. We are seeking individuals passionate about technology, who enjoy tackling complex challenges, and want to make a real impact on home security.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Nice To Haves

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
• Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies
• Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

Responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering features and bug-fixes for Blink and Ring e-commerce.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software.
• Assure the right strategy and architecture is applied by the team.
• Work across teams to manage dependencies and align on engineering work and timelines.
• Collaborate with business, marketing, and other internal teams to define and own features.
• Proactively solve day-to-day challenges and exercise sound judgment.
• Remove barriers to execution for the team.
• Define and execute process improvements to allow the team to improve over time.
• Mentor, hire, and retain excellent engineers.
• Drive best practices and engineering excellence.
