About The Position

Autodesk is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the Trust Data Platform team. This role is responsible for managing a team of developers building and operating scalable, reliable, and cloud-native data platform services that enable trusted data across Autodesk. The platform serves as a foundation for analytics, reporting, operational insights, and AI-driven initiatives, helping teams make data-informed decisions at scale. As an engineering leader, you will combine technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive platform strategy and execution. You will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Senior Principal Developers, and Trust stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritize investments, and deliver high-impact platform capabilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about building high-performing teams, developing developers, and delivering robust data platform solutions that create business value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or data engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience leading software, platform, or data engineering teams
  • Experience building and operating large-scale cloud-native platforms on AWS
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and modern data platform architectures
  • Experience designing and operating data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and large-scale data processing systems
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies
  • Experience supporting analytics, machine learning, AI, or data-driven product initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, observability, and platform operations
  • Experience delivering software and platform capabilities using Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading enterprise-scale data platform or data infrastructure teams
  • Experience enabling AI, machine learning, or generative AI workloads through scalable data platforms
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD automation

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Trust Data Platform team, providing technical, strategic, and people leadership to a team of developers building scalable, reliable, and cloud-native data platform services
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to define platform vision, strategy, roadmaps, priorities, and success metrics that align with organizational objectives and customer needs
  • Collaborate with Architect and Senior Principal Developers to drive technical direction, platform modernization, and long-term architectural evolution
  • Own the delivery and operational excellence of the Trust Data Platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Build and evolve foundational data platform capabilities, including data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, data processing, metadata management, and data lifecycle management
  • Lead the development and operation of cloud-native data lake and data warehouse solutions that support analytics, reporting, operational insights, and AI-driven initiatives
  • Partner with engineering, security, and data teams to integrate data sources and provide trusted, accessible, and actionable data across Autodesk
  • Drive the adoption of modern data engineering practices, platform automation, observability, and self-service capabilities that improve developer and data consumer productivity
  • Establish engineering best practices around software development, platform reliability, data quality, testing, automation, and operational excellence
  • Lead Agile planning and execution, including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, and quarterly planning activities
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team through mentoring, career development, performance management, and technical guidance
  • Partner with recruiting teams to attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent from diverse backgrounds
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning
  • Communicate platform strategy, delivery progress, risks, and business impact to stakeholders and senior leadership
