The Managed Application Platform (MAP) team manages several Tier-1 services including Apollo (deployment across compute types like Hailstone, NAWS, and Serverless), in-place host patching (Quilt), provisioning and scaling through Apollo Cloud Control (ACC), host and hostclass management (H2C), and custom AMI baking solutions. The team also owns DJS. The primary goal is to eliminate builder toil, allowing engineers to focus on customer and business problems without concerns about deployments, safety, host management, or capacity scaling. The team owns the end-to-end deployment and host runtime experience, providing safe and scalable solutions for both human developers and automated systems. Their products aim to create a low-friction path from post-build artifacts to reliable and safe production deployments, designed for Amazon-scale while ensuring ease of use and safety for automated agents. The role involves joining a diverse team of software engineers focused on improving builder velocity, reducing operational risk, scaling automation safely, and maximizing the value of existing tooling investments. Collaboration with teams across Amazon and AWS is key to reducing builder toil at the lowest cost, within a culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers ownership through completion.
