About The Position

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team in Amazon Security that builds AI-powered services to protect Amazon's expanding business portfolio. You should enjoy inventing around complex security challenges, obsess over customers, and deliver results. This role owns a service that finds and closes security blind spots across Amazon Stores: gaps in non-standard infrastructure, newly acquired companies, and environments that don't fit existing security tooling. You will build Gen-AI driven automation that surfaces unknown risks and drives remediation across these environments that have historically lacked security visibility. This is a ground-floor build. Strong cross-organizational partnership is critical, you will work with security teams across Stores and directly with VPs to drive risk trade-off discussions. If you thrive in ambiguity, want to build at the intersection of AI and security, and are motivated by protecting parts of Amazon no one else is covering yet, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of software engineers building a Gen-AI powered security product
  • Own technical direction, build/buy trade-offs, and system design for AI agents, knowledge bases, and workflow automation
  • Partner with M&A security teams, acquired business units, and core security service owners to define requirements and ship solutions
  • Drive adoption of the platform across partner organizations along with Product owner
  • Translate ambiguous security problems into concrete engineering roadmaps with measurable outcomes
  • Present technical strategy and risk trade-offs to Director and VP-level leadership
  • Hire, develop, and retain strong engineers in a competitive talent market
  • Working with users to design new security features
  • Prototyping and demonstrating features to your users
  • Deploying software through our large automated systems
  • Operationally supporting your newly deployed software
  • Look for new approaches to automate fixes for operational issues
  • Use AWS services to solve design problems
  • Interact with Amazon and AWS teams to integrate your application with theirs
