About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Within AWS, the Infrastructure Security – Security Products & Services (InfraSec-SPS) organization builds and operates the software that secures physical access to every AWS data center in the world. We are looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the Security Products team. You will manage a team of engineers (SDE + SysDev) responsible for credential management and badge encoding, global intercom systems, perimeter intrusion detection, and access control engineering support. This is a player-coach role. You will write code, drive architectural decisions, and manage people — setting team direction, running sprint ceremonies, owning on-call, and developing your engineers' careers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers delivering physical security software infrastructure across 800+ data center sites globally
  • Own the credential management stack — drive process improvements and integration with partner teams in the access control space
  • Drive operational excellence: on-call rotations, runbooks, incident response, COE process
  • Manage vendor relationships — timelines, escalations, contract alignment
  • Coordinate site-driven deployment timelines across multiple programs simultaneously
  • Partner with AppSec for security reviews, penetration testing, and finding remediation
  • Hire, develop, and retain engineers — create career development plans aligned to SDE and SysDev growth paths
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Optics, DC Security, Integrators, and InfraSec leadership
  • Drive operational metrics, dashboards, and fleet health visibility for security systems
