About The Position

Amazon's Operations Technology teams are the technical engines that support Amazon’s mission of being Earth’s most customer-centric company. We build the software and services that touch every Amazon customer globally and innovate solutions for logistics, supply chain optimization, and transportation. If you are a software development engineer with a creative flare, problem-solving skills, exposure to various technologies such as Machine Learning and/or Controls Programming, we want to talk with you. We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer to innovate in building Human Machine Interfacing Platforms to join the SCS team within the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Robotics organization. The SCS team develops and maintains tools for automating the deployment, management, and monitoring of complex material handling systems, including conveyor networks, work cells, and industrial control systems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience in robotics design, automation systems development, control systems design, or related product development
  • Experience operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets, or experience in technical support
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial protocols

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs to support system visualization platforms
  • Develop tooling for performance monitoring, testing, and deployment automation
  • Collaborate with Front End Engineers and UX designers to create integrated solutions
  • Implement secure and efficient data processing systems for industrial control systems
  • Create and maintain documentation for backend services and APIs
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design discussions
