About The Position

Amazon CloudFront is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join their Video Delivery team in Seattle, WA. CloudFront is a global content delivery network that builds reliable, scalable, and low-cost systems to serve a growing customer base and drive innovation in the CDN market. The Media & Entertainment team specifically focuses on delivering video content at scale, aiming to set the standard for Quality of Experience in live and on-demand streaming. They work with existing and emerging protocols to deliver near real-time experiences for live events, tackling challenges across the full video delivery stack. The role involves designing and delivering highly available, globally distributed systems with low latency and high throughput, collaborating with other AWS teams, and mentoring other engineers. AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring continuous customer access to innovation. This involves working on challenging problems within a diverse team of engineers and specialists, promoting an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Solid understanding of distributed, scalable systems
  • Experience in building complex software that has been successfully delivered to customers
  • Thorough understanding of internet protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP, and UDP

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate distributed systems that deliver video on a global scale.
  • Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions for video delivery infrastructure.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle — from requirements through deployment and operations.
  • Explore and apply AI/ML-driven approaches to optimize video delivery and quality of experience.
  • Leverage AI assisted development for fast prototyping, design and coding.
