About The Position

You will design, build, and own Android features for Zoom’s meeting platform — including a new partnership project being built from scratch. You’ll be coding hands-on while working closely with PMs, designers, and a globally distributed engineering team, and you’ll serve as the senior Android voice bridging US and China- based teams. Your technical decisions will have direct impact on how the product evolves at scale. The engineering team functions as a highly collaborative, diverse powerhouse. Each department mission is to deliver seamless and innovative communication solutions. These range from software development and machine learning to quality assurance teams that work to create and maintain Zoom's user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure. The team continues to push the boundaries of communication technology, bringing people together regardless of their physical distance.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of professional software development experience with advanced Java skills and practical expertise in Android application development.
  • Expertise in Android SDK, Gradle build systems, and Android Studio.
  • Effective communication abilities to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, such as product managers and designers.
  • Adopt AI tools for coding and troubleshooting effectively—this is an essential expectation across the engineering organization.
  • Expertise using Git and participating in collaborative development workflows effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and C++/NDK for modern and performance- sensitive Android development.
  • Experience with unit testing, UI testing frameworks, or conducting large-scale log analysis.
  • Mandarin skills is a plus to collaborate effectively with the team based in China.

Responsibilities

  • Designing Android client architecture and leading hands-on development of features, including a new greenfield Google partnership project.
  • Owning resolution of critical production issues across the codebase — including modules outside your direct ownership — and delivering root cause analysis under time pressure.
  • Collaborating with China-based Android engineers, PMs, and designers to align on features, timelines, and delivery.
  • Participating in code reviews and contributing to technical decisions that maintain quality across the Android client.
  • Using AI tools actively for coding, debugging, and troubleshooting as part of day-to-day engineering work.
