About The Position

The Messaging, Streaming and Caching team is a full-service Distributed Systems Engineering team. We architect and provide async messaging, streaming, and NoSQL platforms and solutions that power the Workday products and SKUs ranging from core HCM, FIN, Integrations, and AI/ML. We develop client libraries and SDK's that make it easy for teams to build Workday products. We develop automation to deploy and run hundreds of clusters, and we also operate and tune our clusters as well. As a team member you will play a key role in improving our services and encouraging their adoption within Workday's infrastructure both in our private cloud and public cloud. As a member of this team, you will design and build new capabilities from inception to deployment to exploit the full power of the core middleware infrastructure and services, and work hand in hand with our application and service teams!

Requirements

Must be a United States citizen (naturalized or native) due to federal government security requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
3 or more years of DevOps experience including Infrastructure automation, building CICD pipelines (for Mid/Sr Software Development Engineer).
5 or more years of DevOps experience including Infrastructure automation, building CICD pipelines (for Sr Software Development Engineer).
Good in System design and writing comprehensive technical design docs.
Proficient in Python programming.
Experience using technologies like Kubernetes/Docker to help developers scale their efforts in creating new and innovative products.
BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Proven team collaboration experience, i.e. understanding group dynamics, effective communication strategies, conflict resolution techniques, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team.

Nice To Haves

An active TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred.
May be required to be on site at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area.
Specialty certification (e.g., CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, CASP+).
Machine learning background.
Experience with communication protocols, RESTful services, service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, and microservices.
Building comprehensive monitoring services.
Prior experience with enterprise SaaS products.
Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana.
Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, implementing CI/CD pipelines using Git and Jenkins, and applying continuous deployment tool such as ArgoCD.
Experience in leading or mentoring other team members.
Preferred DoD 8570/8140 compliant with at least IAT Level II certification, including a current Computing Environment (CE) credential and one approved.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain robust DevOps pipelines for deploying, monitoring, and scaling machine learning runtime environment.
Collaborate with other Machine Learning teams to improve not just the product, but efficiencies in engineering processes.
Design and build new capabilities from inception to deployment to exploit the full power of the core middleware infrastructure and services.
Work hand in hand with our application and service teams.
Improve our services and encourage their adoption within Workday's infrastructure both in our private cloud and public cloud.
Operate and tune our clusters.
Develop automation to deploy and run hundreds of clusters.
Develop client libraries and SDK's that make it easy for teams to build Workday products.
Architect and provide async messaging, streaming, and NoSQL platforms and solutions that power the Workday products and SKUs ranging from core HCM, FIN, Integrations, and AI/ML.
Create and maintain accurate documentation and fix run books.
Provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
