About The Position

This role is for a passionate engineer to join the Alexa Connected Devices team, focusing on the development of Tier-1 services for Alexa Cloud. The mission of the Alexa Connectivity teams is to deliver low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and highly scalable connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices (such as Echo and Smart Home devices) and the Alexa Cloud. The work involves improving the speed and reliability for end customers interacting with Alexa devices and simplifying the experience for developers by abstracting connection management. The team handles tens of billions of transactions per day. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to build new features and operate a tier-1 Cloud Service in its inception phase. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the potential of Alexa and Cloud technology and committed to delivering high-quality services in a hyper-growth environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
• System design with AI components and able to evaluate latency, cost, reliability, and accuracy.
• Agentic ai development
• AI-Augmented Development: Using tools like Kiro effectively for design, coding, testing, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Building software to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud
• Drive and lead software design, development standards, team processes and code reviews.
• Optimize software libraries for low latency, CPU and memory footprint.
• Deliver high-quality software through working in a dynamic, team-focused Agile/Scrum environment
• Contributing to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices.
