About The Position

The Amazon Cloud Management Foundations team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who has a passion for security-at-scale. You will work on a team building services that monitor Amazon network hosts and their configurations. We develop the tools that keep Amazon safe from malicious actors by preventing, detecting, and mitigating security events. We work closely with our Application Security, Threat Intel, Security Operations, and Security Analyst teams to drive security improvements across the company. Our team deals with large quantities of data, pushing the envelope on scale and various advanced analytical techniques to find and mitigate security threats. You’ll be expected to develop robust large scale distributed systems for processing data, and to provide technical leadership to other engineers to do the same. While you may not be a security expert just yet, you have a passion for solving security challenges in innovative ways. You’ll develop a broad and deep understanding of the overall Amazon security posture and develop many of the core technology components to improve and scale. The mission of the Network Security team within Amazon Cloud Management Foundations is to ensure all network endpoints meet the Amazon Security bar. This requires building large distributed systems that are capable of auditing internally-owned network hosts for potential misconfigurations. This team also develops solutions that drive remediation of network host misconfigurations at Amazon-scale, ensuring it remains secure for our customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
