About The Position

Amazon’s eCommerce Foundation (eCF) organization is responsible for the core components that drive the Amazon website and customer experience. The Business Data Technologies (BDT) group within eCF processes petabytes of data from thousands of Amazon data sources, including the Amazon catalog, inventory, customer order, page views, and Alexa systems, also supporting subsidiaries like IMDB and Audible. BDT provides interfaces for internal customers to access and query data using AWS services such as Redshift, EMR, Glue, LakeFormation, and SageMaker, building scalable solutions. The data is consumed by thousands of teams including Research Scientists, Machine Learning Specialists, Business Analysts, and Data Engineers. BDT is developing innovative products like the next-generation data catalog, data discovery engine, data transformation, and machine learning by advancing Ray (an open source framework) with AWS technologies. The role is a hands-on position involving designing and building scalable components and features, formulating data strategy, mentoring junior engineers, and working with sophisticated customers. It requires a top software developer with excellent programming skills, an understanding of data and parallelization, a stellar record of delivery, leadership, customer obsession, and a passion for massive-scale computing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Staying current on technical knowledge to keep pace with rapidly changing technology, and work with the team in bringing new technologies on board.
