Software Development Engineer, Open Data Analytics Engines

AmazonEast Palo Alto, CA
$165,200 - $223,600Onsite

About The Position

Amazon Analytics offers fully managed cloud data warehouse and data lake capabilities. Tens of thousands of enterprise customers rely on Analytics services to process exabytes of data every day, powering the business-critical decisions that drive their organizations forward. To stay ahead in such a high-stakes environment, we continuously reinvent ourselves on behalf of customers — and we're looking for innovative engineers to help shape the future of Analytics. We push the boundaries of what's possible by contributing to and leveraging the latest technologies and relentlessly optimizing every layer of the stack within the query engine from query compilation, planning, optimization and execution. If a query can run faster, we find the way. The Open Data Analytics Engines (ODAE) Runtime Team owns the massively parallel query execution engine at the heart of the Analytics data plane. Our singular obsession: performance. We are building the world's fastest query engine — one that powers multiple AWS services and processes data at scale. An ideal candidate would have a background (or deep interest) in distributed systems, databases, or query engines such as Apache Spark and understands how queries are optimized, planned, and executed end-to-end. Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
