About The Position

As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will join an 11-week Summer Internship Program designed to give you hands-on experience, expand your professional network, and build core industry skills. This full-time opportunity (40 hours per week) runs from June through August 2027. CarGurus operates on a hybrid working model, and candidates should expect to work out of our Boston, MA office 60% of the time (approximately three days per week).

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with eligibility to complete a full-time internship.
• You have coded with a high-order programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or Python, and studied algorithms and data structures
• You work well autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment
• You are eager to learn and expand your capabilities
• You care about quality of design as well as have a bias toward action

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to AI coding tools, AWS, and front-end development experience (e.g. JavaScript, React, and Remix)

Responsibilities

• Work with Java, TypeScript, Python and other technologies to build applications, tooling, or microservices at CarGurus
• Work on a product engineering team with an engineering manager, product manager, and other engineers
• Participate in whiteboard sessions and design conversations on engineering the best solution to the challenges at hand
• Test out new insights with novel and quick experiments
• Write clean, well-tested, and efficient code
