About The Position

Dexmate is building the foundation for physical AI — a unified platform that combines high-quality robotic hardware with a universal Physical AI OS, making robots as easy to build and deploy as software. Today, robotics is fragmented, slow, and closed: most builders are forced to reinvent the same stack again and again, and most ideas never make it past the prototype stage. We exist to change that. Our mission is to democratize robotics by lowering the barrier to entry, delivering a plug-and-play platform for developers, researchers, and enterprises, and cultivating an open ecosystem that accelerates the evolution of physical AI. If you want to help shape the next layer of human capability — and believe the future of robotics should be built together, not in isolation — we'd love to build it with you. We are looking for our first dedicated Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help build a strong quality foundation for the software that powers embodied robots. You will work closely with our software engineering, product, and design teams to test new features, build automation, identify bugs, improve reliability, and ensure our software is secure, scalable, and production-ready.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, Software Engineer in Test, or similar role.
  • Strong coding ability in TypeScript, JavaScript, Rust, Python, Java, Go, or similar language.
  • Experience testing modern web applications, APIs, backend services, and cloud-based software.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar.
  • Experience with performance or load testing tools such as k6, JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail, debugging ability, and clear written communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as the first or early QA/SDET hire at a startup or fast-moving engineering team.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, databases, authentication systems, and observability tools.
  • Interest in robotics, AI platforms, developer tools, or physical AI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated tests for robot software, APIs, backend services, web applications, and end-to-end workflows spanning from cloud to physical robot.
  • Perform manual, exploratory, regression, and release testing for new and existing features.
  • Validate UI implementation against product requirements and design specifications.
  • Conduct performance, load, stress, and reliability testing for critical software workflows.
  • Test account systems, authentication, authorization, permissions, and data security flows.
  • Validate software releases at software and robot level, including regression, fault-injection, and recovery testing.
