Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional software development experience (typically 5+ years) building and operating production services or applications.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful or gRPC APIs, low-level system designs, and data models for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, Kotlin, C#, Python, or similar) and in core software engineering practices including testing, code review, and CI/CD.
  • Experience integrating or working with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows in production contexts, with an understanding of how to apply AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and evolving service and data architectures that operate at scale, including consideration for performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency in cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated track record driving end‑to‑end technical solutions for complex projects, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
  • Hands-on experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions, such as agentic workflows, recommendation systems, or generative AI features, including monitoring model behavior and performance.
  • Experience with observability tooling, automated testing strategies, and operational best practices that improve reliability and reduce mean time to recovery across multiple services or domains.
  • Strong background applying data-driven decision making to evaluate alternatives, optimize system behavior, and refine AI‑enabled product experiences, with additional depth in agentic AI patterns, orchestration frameworks, or LLM-based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available, performant services and applications leveraging agentic AI capabilities to solve complex traveler and partner problems.
  • Develop clean, testable, and maintainable code across the stack, including robust system design (low-level design), API design, and data modeling aligned with Expedia Group engineering standards.
  • Integrate AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows into production services, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes for customers and internal users.
  • Collaborate with product, applied science, and platform teams to translate business and AI/ML requirements into scalable technical solutions, contributing to technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
  • Instrument services with monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure reliability, observability, and operational excellence, participating in on-call or incident response as needed.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to enable fungibility across multiple domains and services within the broader platform.
