About The Position

This role is for a Software Development Engineer II on the Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) team, specifically within the Pipelines group. Pipelines is a critical system at Amazon, serving as the backbone for software delivery and connecting various aspects of the development and release process for tens of thousands of engineers. The team is focused on creating better outcomes for internal customers by developing metrics and features that measure and improve the software development and release process across Amazon. The goal is to reduce toil, enhance safety, and enable the company and its builders to scale further and move faster.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new metrics to measure the outcomes achieved by software development teams across Amazon.
  • Create new features and capabilities to improve development and release outcomes.
  • Reduce toil and improve safety for Amazon builders.
  • Influence the direction of Pipelines as a product and collaborate with peer teams like Apollo and Brazil Build.
  • Deliver excellent designs and code.
  • Improve the team's technical practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers and managers to define component direction and meet business needs.
  • Ship features that influence how software development works at Amazon.
  • Lead and provide feedback in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide input to the road-map.
  • Contribute to overall product and team direction within the team and across the Pipelines organization.
  • Participate in the hiring process.
  • Coach and develop other engineers in the space.
