Our systems give fraud operations teams and platform tenants the low-latency, explainable, and auditable decisioning tools they need to balance security with customer experience, from rule and policy execution to simulation capabilities, review tooling, and the feedback loops that continuously improve our risk controls. As a Software Development Engineer II on the team, you'll design and build backend services at the center of this decisioning ecosystem. You'll work across our control plane to turn ML scores, contextual signals, and risk policies into real-time enforceable actions. You'll partner with data scientists, product managers, fraud analysts, and engineers across Transaction Integrity to translate complex risk problems into reliable, scalable systems that protect millions of customers globally. You'll report to the Senior Engineer Manager for Trust Decisioning. This role is based in our Seattle office.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience building production backend systems
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Kotlin or similar languages such as Java, Python or C++ with demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
  • Experience designing and building distributed systems using cloud platforms, particularly AWS services
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, version control, CI/CD and agile methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to solve complex problems
  • Experience in translating emerging AI capabilities into practical, high-impact solutions.
  • A degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs using Kotlin and Go that power fraud detection and risk decisioning systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including data scientists and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Own the reliability and performance of your services by monitoring production systems, responding to incidents and implementing improvements
  • Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage and participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards
  • Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews and knowledge sharing
