Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Deliver High-Quality, End-to-End Software Features; Independently design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain software features spanning the full lifecycle.
• Tackle difficult problems with visible risks or roadblocks (e.g., performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges).
• Work with distributed systems, real-time data pipelines, and ML-powered sentiment analysis.
• Resolve Operational Issues and Advocate for Excellence; Identify and eliminate root causes of software failures, ensuring permanent fixes.
• Drive operational excellence by improving team processes (e.g., testing, deployment, monitoring) and advocating for resource-efficient solutions.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally with Stakeholders; Partner with customers, product managers, and UX designers to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Influence Technical Strategy and Architecture; Create comprehensive documentation of software architecture, testing processes, and operational procedures.
• Contribute to team-level architectural decisions and guide future technical investments.
• Drive Process Improvements and Innovation; Identify and implement process improvements (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, testing automation) to enhance team efficiency.
• Champion operational best practices (e.g., observability, error handling) and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor and Coach Junior Engineers; Actively train new teammates on software architecture, testing, operations, and security.
• Provide constructive feedback during code reviews and guide peers on best practices.
• Architect and Ship High-Impact Features; Collaborate with product managers and designers to define the scope of a new feature, balancing customer needs with technical constraints.
• Write production-ready code that scales seamlessly and meets Amazon’s bar.
• Solve Real-Time Production Challenges; Dive into alerts or customer-reported bugs, diagnosing root causes under pressure and deploying fixes that minimize downtime.
• Proactively tune systems for performance e.g., reducing latency in a critical API or eliminating resource bottlenecks.
• Drive Efficiency Through Process Innovation; Automate testing or deployment pipelines to eliminate manual bottlenecks, freeing the team to focus on high-value work.
• Champion operational excellence by implementing monitoring tools or reliability frameworks that ensure a high quality experience for millions of users daily.
